Demogexia uses a channel-based chat system, where each channel has a specific use.
Each message in the chat is prefixed with a single-colored letter, signifying the channel that some messages are coming from. For example, C means Community, and L means Local.
/channel <name of channel> switches you to that channel, meaning your newer messages will be sent to that channel. Note that you can send a single message to any channel without switching channel by “quick messaging” it by using
/ch <short name of channel> <message>. Example:
/ch m Hello world! I'm selling melons!
Community Channel or C (Dark Green)
The Community Chat is accessible to everyone. It is used for general conversations among all of the online players. If you are having a private conversation with someone, it is courteous to use the private chat, residence, group, or local channels instead.
/channel community or
/ch c switches to Community chat.
Local Channel or L (White)
In the Nether and End dimensions, the public chat is limited to the local channel. This means that you can only chat with people that are within 230 blocks from you.
/channel local or
/ch l switches to local chat.
Party Channel or P (Green)
The party channel is used as a private chat channel for more than two players. This channel can be accessed from any world. Only members of the same party as you can hear you on the Group Channel. In order to use the private group channel, you will need to join a group.
/partychat - switches to Party chat.
Donator Channel or D (Yellow)
Donators have access to their own private channel. This channel can be accessed from any world and can be heard by any donators and staff member. Note that Donator Chat is still considered a public channel, and should be treated as such. Donator Chat is available to all players with premium ranks.
/channel donator or
/d switches to supporter chat.
Market Channel or M (Gold)
The Market Channel is used for discussing all things related to the economy, including shops, price discussion, and the sale of items. Please keep all of the chat messages in this channel related to the economy. Any marketplace or auction advertising should be done on this channel. More than one unsolicited advertisement in a three-hour time gap is considered spam.
/channel market or
/ch m switches to market chat.
If you are only going to be talking to a single person, it is considered polite to use the
/msg command. This stops the chat from getting clogged up with lots of “private” conversations.
clicking a player’s name in a chat message will start a private conversation with that player.
/whisper <Player Name> <Message> or
/w <Player Name> <Message> sends a private message to the receiver.
/msg <Player Name> <Message> sends a private message to the receiver.
/reply <Message> or
/r <Message> replies to the last private message you have received.
If someone is bothering you, you may use
/ignore to ignore them. This will prevent you from seeing their messages, and also block them from communicating with you.
/ignore <Player Name> ignores a player.
/unignore <Player Name> no longer ignores a player.
/ignore list lists the players you have ignored.
All donators can write formatted messages in chat. They cannot write colored messages.
The markdown you have to include to do this works as follows:
- &l - Bold
- &n - Underline
- &o - Itallic
- &k - Magic
- &m -
- &r - Reset
Please do not use this feature to make your messages hard to read, as that will be considered spam and subject to staff action.
